ANALISA PENAMBAHAN INHIBITOR EKSTRAK DAUN TEH PADA PENGAIT CRANE TERHADAP LAJU KOROSI

Abstract


Corrosion is a destructive attack on a metal by chemical or electrochemical reactions to its environment. In constructions made of both metal and non-metals, corrosion can cause enormous cost losses. Various ways have been done to reduce the rate of corrosion, one of them is the use of inhibitors. Based on the above problem, this study was conducted which aimed to determine the efficiency of corrosion inhibition of low carbon steel in seawater medium without and the inhibitors of tea leaf extract with a concentration of 5%, 8%, 11% and variations in soaking time 10 days, 20 days, 30 days , and 40 days. The average corrosion rate on low carbon steel was at 0% concentration of 2.1527 mpy, 5% concentration of 0.8804 mpy, 8% concentration of 0.8470 mpy and 11% of 0.9874 mpy. In this study the most optimal concentration was 8%.
