ANALISIS PENGARUH PERLAKUAN ALKALI TERHADAP KEKUATAN TARIK DAN KETANGGUHAN IMPAK KOMPOSIT DARI SERAT LIDAH MERTUA (SANSEVIERIA TRIFASCIATA) DENGAN MATRIK POLYESTER

Abstrak
Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menyelidiki pengaruh perlakuan alkali 0%, 3%, 6% dan 9% NaOH terhadap kekuatan tarik dan ketangguhan impak serat lidah mertua (sansevieria trifasciata) bermatrik polyester. Bahan utama penelitian adalah serat lidah mertua, NaOH, dan resin polyester. Serat yang digunakan dikenai perlakuan 0%, 3%, 6% dan 9% NaOH selama 2 jam. Pembuatan komposit dengan metode hand lay up pada fraksi volume 20%. Pembuatan spesimen uji komposit dan prosedur pengujiannya mengacu pada standar ASTM D638-04 untuk uji kekuatan tarik dan ASTM D265 untuk uji ketangguhan impak. Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa kekuatan tarik komposit memiliki harga optimum untuk perlakuan 6% NaOH, yaitu 52,70 MPa. Komposit yang diperkuat serat lidah mertua dikenai perlakuan 0% NaOH memiliki kekuatan terendah, sebesar 39,08 MPa. Nilai regangan serat lidah mertua tertinggi pada perlakuan 9%, sebesar 1,52% dan regangan terendah 6% NaOH sebesar 1,25%. Hasil pengujian ketangguhan impak menunjukan nilai optimum pada perlakuan 3% NaOH, sebesar 0,0226 J/mm2 dan nilai terendah pada perlakuan 9% NaOH yaitu 0,0169 J/mm2, Penampang patahan komposit yang diperkuat serat 0% NaOH mempunyai mekanisme kegagalan fiber pull out terbanyak.
Abstract
This study aims to investigate the effect of 0%, 3%, 6% and 9% NaOH alkali on the tensile strength and toughness of the impact of tongue-in-law (Sansevieria trifasciata) fiber with polyester texture. The main ingredients of the research are tongue-in law fiber, NaOH, and polyester resin. The fiber used was subjected to 0%, 3%, 6% and 9% NaOH treatments for 2 hours. Making composites using the hand lay up method at a volume fraction of 20%. The production of composite test specimens and the testing procedure refers to the ASTM D638-04 standard for tensile strength tests and ASTM D265 for impact toughness tests. The results showed that composite tensile strength had the optimum price for the treatment of 6% NaOH, ie 52,70 MPa. Composite reinforced with tongue-in-law fiber subjected to 0% NaOH treatment has the lowest strength, at 39,08 MPa. The highest strain of tongue-in-law fiber was 9%, 1,52% and lowest 6% NaOH was 1,25%. The impact toughness test results showed the optimum value in the treatment of 3% NaOH, at 0,0226 J/mm2 and the lowest value at the treatment of 9% NaOH, which was 0,0169 J/mm2. The cross section of 0% NaOH fiber reinforced composite fault has the most fiber pull out failure mechanism.
