Pengaruh Variasi Temperatur Elektroplating Terhadap Ketebalan Lapisan Nikel Baja ST37

Abstract


Temperature on electroplating is one of the things that can affect the result of coating thickness on steel. This study used specimens in the form of low carbon steel plate ST37 with size 50x20 mm and 60x20 mm, and nickel coating. The process of nickel plating of base metals uses temperature variations of 600C, 700C and 800C, immersion time of 20 minutes, and voltage of 5 Volts. The aim of this research is to know the effect of temperature difference on coating thickness by electroplating. The results of this study concluded that the coating temperature had an effect on the thickness of the nickel layer by electroplating. For objects measuring 50x20 mm with a temperature of 600C and an initial mass of 20.24 grams obtained thickness with a mass of 0.02 grams and has a final mass of 20.26 grams. Similarly, a 60x20 mm-sized object with a temperature of 700C and an initial mass of 24.06 grams obtained a thickness with the same mass of 0.02 grams and has a final mass of 24.08 grams. Meanwhile, the object size 50x20 mm with a temperature of 800C and the initial mass of 21.37 grams obtained thickness of 0.04 grams and has a final mass of 21.41 grams.
