Abstract

Employment problems are still a major concern in every country. Indonesia has been named the fourth most populous country in the world. Abundance in terms of the quantity of labor causes the interest and interest of some Indonesians to migrate internationally. The purpose of this study is to analyze the factors that influence the international migration of Indonesian labor migrants in 2014-2019. The factors that influence it are Regional Interaction, Economic Growth in the Country of Origin, Economic Growth in the Country of Destination, Population in the Country of Destination, and Remittances. This study uses panel data, which is a combination of time series data from 2014 to 2019 and cross section data from 22 migration destination countries obtained from the World Bank. The analytical method used is panel data regression with the Fixed Effect Model approach. Based on the results of the analysis, it is found that the Interaction of Regions, Economic Growth of the Destination Country, Population, and Remittances have a significant influence on the international migration of TKI, while the Economic Growth of the Country of Origin does not have a significant effect on the international migration of TKI. The variables of Regional Interaction, Economic Growth in the Country of Origin, Economic Growth in the Country of Destination, Population Population, and Remittances simultaneously have a significant and significant influence on the international migration of Indonesian Migrant Workers in 2014-2019. Therefore, it can be concluded that the gravity model is quite relevant to be applied to the case of international migration of Indonesian workers.
